Nicole by OPI Hit the Lights

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a good week so far. Is it just me, or does it seem like this week is going by SO slowly?? It feels like it should be Friday already! At least today marks the official halfway point of the work week!

I am crazy for all things yellow nail polish, so when the Selena Gomez for OPI collection came out the first week of January I made it my mission to find and acquire Hit the Lights. Hit the Lights is a warm, sunshine yellow creme that is bright (without being neon) and a definite pick-me-upper!

3 coats plus topcoat

Yellow nail polishes are notorious for their streaky and awful-to-apply formulas, but I am very happy to report that Hit the Lights has none of those problems! The formula was easy to work with and built up perfectly. Yes, it did take three coats - but for a yellow that's a dream!

Hit the Lights lived up to my expectations and made my trek to three different drug stores worth it! I will hunt around Toronto as long as it takes for a good yellow nail polish. :) I have a couple of pastel and neon yellows, but nothing this warm and vibrant, so Hit the Lights is an automatic favourite!

Even though it's January and in the dead of winter, I wore this shade all weekend! As much as I love the dark and moody shades of winter, there's something refreshing about such a warm and happy colour this time of year. The sun refused to come out, but who needs sun when you have a yellow like this on your nails, am I right?

Do any of the Selena Gomez collection polishes catch your eye? Are you into yellow nail polish at all?

  3. Love how bright and cheerful this is. Did you have to apply a topcoat or does it have that wonderful glossy finish?

    1. It was super glossy on its own, but I still put a topcoat on jus to kick it up a notch. I'm glad you like it, Frances! :)

  7. I agree that this week is going sooo slow :(. However your lovely sunshine nails would certainly make me feel a little happier :). As a rule I steer clear of yellow but I do have a couple of bottles I should dig out and give them a try xx

  8. I'm with you; this week could not be any slower. It doesn't help that I'm working on something incredibly boring at work, so it's dragging on. ><

This sure is a happy color! It looks so fun and peppy on you! :)
